Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the CEO of BON Development Corp. and working closely with Brokenhead Ojibway Nation leadership, the Project Manager (PM) will oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of all construction capital projects undertaken by BON Development Corp. Key responsibilities include site preparation, municipal servicing, and compliance with project deliverables, timelines, and budgets. The PM will also ensure that project objectives align with community priorities and organizational goals.

The PM will lead project teams, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and provide technical guidance to ensure quality and efficiency in project execution. This role demands a proactive approach to risk management, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop comprehensive work plans, engage appropriate personnel, and allocate tasks effectively.
  • Coordinate tasks across multiple sites, ensuring consistency and uniformity in outcomes.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet established quality standards.

Construction Management:

  • Oversee all site preparation and offsite municipal servicing activities.
  • Manage the construction permit process, including environmental compliance and highway use.
  • Review and finalize site preparation budgets and servicing estimates.
  • Manage contracts with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage post-construction documentation, including as-builts and final acceptance certificates.

Risk and Financial Management:

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate internal and external risks, such as design flaws or regulatory changes.
  • Maintain project cost controls, ensuring efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Prepare financial reports, including cost-to-complete assessments and cash flow analysis.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Supervise and mentor project team members and subcontractors.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to align goals, address challenges, and improve communication.
  • Promote a collaborative and high-morale work environment.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate with Brokenhead Ojibway Nation leadership to ensure alignment with community priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with municipal departments, securing necessary permits and approvals.
  • Engage with contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality results.

Oversight of Related Functions:

  • Coordinate with Public Works and Housing departments to integrate planning and operational activities.
  • Support the development of annual work plans and budgets for these departments.
  • Ensure streamlined processes and avoid duplication of services across departments.

Additional Duties:

  • Provide technical assistance for special projects as directed by the CEO.
  • Ensure adherence to BON Development Corp.’s policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field (preferred) with proven experience in construction project management is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in project management in fields such as municipal engineering, land development, or capital projects.
  • Expertise in pre-development, estimating, budgeting, value engineering, cost control, contract administration, and scheduling.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Direct experience managing earthworks projects, including site filling, preloading, large yard construction, and road building.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with project management tools and methodologies, MS Office Suite, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with municipal bylaws, servicing requirements, and contract terms.
  • Knowledge of environmental and geotechnical assessments, contaminated site regulations, and riparian area regulations is an asset.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Capacity to mentor team members and promote a high-performance culture.

Additional Requirements:

  • Familiarity with First Nations governance, community planning, and cultural sensitivities is an asset.
  • Criminal Record Check.

Salary Range: Dependent upon Education and Experience
